- Judith Ann (Evans) Daum, age 86, of Marion, died Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Kingston of Marion.
Judy was born March 5, 1937 in Columbus, Ohio to Elbert William Evans and Pauline (Neutzling) Evans. She graduated from Dublin High School in 1955 and received her Bachelor of Science in Education degree from The Ohio State University in 1960. On July 5, 1958 she married Jack Daum, in Dublin Community Church; he preceded her in death in 1993.
Judy was a teacher in the Columbus Public and Marion City Schools until her retirement in 1992. Her last 23 years were at George Washington, but she also taught at Oakland and North Main Street Schools in Marion.
She was a volunteer for many Marion groups and a member of Epworth Methodist Church where she served as the United Methodist Women’s President, Evelyn Kendell Circle, Wisdom Keepers, Life Member of the Marion City/County Retired Teachers Association, Artisan’s Guild, Euchre Club, Understanding Friends, Eye to Eye Group, Marion Senior Center, The Red Hat Society, and The Marion Ohio State Alumni Association. She worked on Alumni scholarships at Ohio State, Marion for many years. She was Marion County Outstanding Buckeye member of the year in 1993. She enjoyed oil painting, crafts, card making, woodworking and traveling. She followed the Buckeyes to many bowl games and traveled to 48 states.
In earlier years, Judy really enjoyed cooking and was the Grand Prize winner of the Marion Star Cook off and a category winner many other years. She collected toothpick holders in her many travels and was a member of the National Toothpick Holders Collectors Society, attending many conventions.
Judy is survived by daughter-in-law, Kathy Daum of Marion; granddaughters, Andrea (Ben) Diab of Westerville, and Kaitlyn Daum of Marion; step-brothers, Robert Thompson of Columbus, Bill (Vicki) Thompson of Wilmington, NC; and step-sister, Judi (Ron) Odell of Tucson, AZ; along with numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
Besides her husband Jack, she was preceded in death by children, Jeffrey William Daum and Jill Annette Pinnick; and stepmother, Ruth Thompson Evans.
Visitation will be held at Snyder Funeral Homes, Denzer Chapel (360 East Center St., Marion) on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 from 4 until 7 pm. A funeral will be held at 10:30 on Thursday at Epworth United Methodist Church (249 East Center St., Marion) with Rev. Jennifer Bass officiating. Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery.
