- Jackie F. Tate, 72, of Mannington, died Friday (Dec. 26, 2008) at the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. He was born Sept. 25, 1936, in Shinnston, a son of the late Harry L. Tate and Lexie Ann Hess Tate Neville. Mr. Tate was retired from the LTV Steel Mill in Cleveland, Ohio, where he worked as a crane operator with over 30 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and attended Wyatt Union Fellowship Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Chris Tate of Ramona, Calif.; a granddaughter, Tanya Bates and husband Willy, Spring Valley, Calif.; a grandson and fiancé, Richard Tate Jr. and Crystal Kazenske of Ramona, Calif.; a great-grandson, Landon Bates and Garrett Bates; two sisters, Edna Renick of Mannington, Kathleen Debolt of Aleppo, Pa.; his former wife, Josephine Rogers of Webster Springs; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Jackie was also preceded in death by a son, James Michael Tate; a sister, Colleen Gripper; two half sisters, Genevieve Mills and Adeline Marsh; and three brothers-in-law, Paul Gripper, James Debolt and Mike Renick. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Wyatt Union Fellowship Church in Wyatt with Pastor Roy Clark officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his father at the IOOF Cemetery at Enterprise. Cremation services entrusted to the Hutson Funeral Home in Mannington.
