[4] Notes - Freda Mae Lowther, age 87 of Lost Creek, WV departed this life Thursday, May 18, 2006 in the United Hospital Center.
She was born in Corley, WV on June 26, 1918, a daughter of the late Russell Cogar & Pearl (Williams) Cogar.
He husband of 61 years, Edgar Swisher Lowther, preceded her in death on Nov. 1, 2002.
She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. Surviving are a son and a daughter- in law, John Edgar & Judy K. Lowther, Lost Creek, WV, two daughters and sons-in-law, Judith Ann & John H. Curry, Lost Creek, WV and Carolyn Sue & Michael L. Brown, Lost Creek, WV, one sister, Mrs. Phillip (Jean) Fulton, Westerville, OH, three grandchildren, Stacey Caroline Davis and her husband, Daniel E., Broad Run, WV, Bridgette Ann Wilson and her husband, John T., Elkins, WV and Michael Shawn Lowther and his wife, Jeni, Clarksburg, WV; four great grandchildren, Riley J. Davis, Cameron J. Wilson, Ethan J. Wlson and Isaiah Michael Lowther
and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Mrs. Lowther was a member of the Lost Creek United Methodist Church for more than fifty years. A devout christian for many years, eternal life is inevitable. Reunion with her husband, Ed will be a glorious time. Her many blessings were passed on as an inspiration to many.
She was valedictorian of her graduating class of 1936 at Sutton High School.
Mrs. Lowther was very active in the Harrison County Extension Homemakers and served as county president.
She was a member of the Harrison County Watercolor Society and was an accomplished watercolor artist. Mrs. Lowther was a lovely seamstress using her own designs for most of her sewing.
Friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home, 329 East Main St., Clarksburg from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m Sunday where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, May 22, 2006 with the Rev. Ann Crawford presiding. Interment will be in the Lost Creek Seventh Day Baptist
Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her honor to the Clarksburg Mission, P. O. Box 1123, Clarksburg, WV 26302.
