- Jesus has called home Clermont resident, Gordon D. Goodman, who is gathered with the saints in that happy home where there are no tears or pain. On May 8th, 2013, at Promise Hospital, Oxford, Fl, his loving wife of 43 years, Pamela S. Goodman, bid him farewell, after a long struggle with the infirmities that beset him as a result of over sedation for an MRI, after minor back surgery. His wife and son, Scott D. Goodman, the pride of his life, find their solace in the knowledge that he is safe in the arms of Jesus. Gordon was born in Walla Walla, WA, Oct. 01, 1947, to his proud parents Agnes (Still) Goodman, of Richland, WA, and Edwin F. Goodman, who has preceded him in death. He has three sisters and one brother who love him dearly: Beverly Zaro, of Walla Walla, WA, Jeanette Mercier, of Richland, WA, Diane East, of Hot Springs, AR, and Jerry Goodman, of Yakima, WA. Gordon proudly served his country as a USAF pilot during the Vietnam War Era. Later, he went to work for the US Postal Service, retiring as a postmaster in WA State, before moving to Florida. He loved to sing and had a beautiful tenor voice. For many years, he was a member of "The King's Choral Ambassadors, of Portland, OR. After arriving in Florida, he joined the Winter Garden Community Choir. He sang with them at Carnegie Hall, in New York City, only a few weeks before his ill-fated back surgery. Those, to whom he is dear, will always remember his strong love for the Lord, his sweet nature and his wonderful sense of humor.
