  Notes	Charleston Daily Mail Friday, January 11, 1963 Page 9 Miner Killed In Slate Fall WIDEN, WV Lorenza Rush Carte, 53, of Dille, Clay County, died in a slate fall at the Clinchfield Coal Co. mine here yesterday shortly before noon. Head and chest injuries caused death. He had been employed at the mine since 1936. Carte belonged to the Union Baptist Church at Dille and the Widen local of the United Mine Workers. Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Big Union Baptist Church at Dille. The Rev. Jim McLaughlin will officiate. Burial will be in the Walnut Grove Cemetery on Strange Creek. The'body is at the Waters Funeral Home in Summersville. It will be taken to the church an hour before services. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Martha Dancy and Mrs. Shelba Rogers, both of Dille, and Miss Janet Carte at home; three sons, Dana of Vermillion, Ohio, Delbert and Dale Carte, both at home; his mother, Mrs. Sarah Carte of Dille; three sisters, Mrs. Lillian Tinnell and Mrs. Oma Tinnell, both of Birch River, and Mrs. Radie Hall of Strange Creek; two brothers, Richard and Loring Carte of Strange Creek, and 12 grandchildren.
