  Notes	George W. Vorpe Sr. TROY George W. Vorpe Sr., 88, of Troy, died at 9:15 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2006, at the Harborside Healthcare Center, Troy. He was born April 26, 1917, in Urbana, to the late Elmer and Blanche (Bodey) Vorpe. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Freida Marie (Weissinger), in 1981, and his second wife, Mary. He is survived by his children and their spouses, George W. (Violet) Vorpe Jr. of Troy, Mary (Hersholt) Ford of Bastrop, La., Sharon (Irvin) Meek of Pontiac, Mich. and Richard Vorpe of Dayton; a stepdaughter, Gertie Mullins of Clayton, La.; a brother, Carl Vorpe of St. Simmons Island, Ga.; four sisters, Harriett Stephenson of Georgetown, S.C., Jean Simmons of Plant City, Fla., Ruth Ellen Maurer of Botkins and Carol Persinger of DeGraff; sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Oma Vorpe of Troy; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by his brothers, Elmer and Stanley; a sister, Kathleen Rice; and stepson, Joe Hobbs Jr. He was a member of the Troy Baptist Temple. He had served in the CCC and helped build the Kiser Lake. He was a retired machinist with BFGoodrich Co., Troy after 25 years of service. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Troy Baptist Temple with Pastor Rick Arrowood officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Tipp City. Friends may call from 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Troy Baptist Temple Building Fund.
