[3] Notes - Earl William Bartel, 93, of Milton Twp., who passed away Thursday morning in Omni Manor Care Center. Earl was born October 5, 1917 in Cleveland the son of William and Mary (Kowalski) Bartel and came to this area in 1970. He retired in 1979 from J and L Steel, the former Youngstown Sheet and Tube, as a Combustion Engineer / Instrumentation after 40 years of service. Earl attended Case School of Applied Science, which later became Case Western Reserve, for 3 years and also attended Youngstown State University for 1 year. He was an honorably discharged veteran of WWII, a member of Bailey Road Baptist Church, a former member of Evansville Baptist Church, and a former member of Federated Church of North Jackson. Earl was also a Life Member of the Fish and Game Club of Vienna where he was a past vice president and trustee, also a life member of the Western Reserve Fish and Game Club of Niles where he served as past president, a life member of the Lake Milton Fish and Game Club, also a life member of the Hidden Valley Sportsman Club, and of the Titusville rod and gun Club. Earl was also the past president of the Mahoning County Federation of Sportsman, he was also on the committee of Ducks Unlimited of Mahoning County, a member of the Amateur Trap Shooting Association for 40 years, the Ohio State Trap Shooting Association, the Mahoning County Trap League Shooter, White Tails Unlimited, Trout Unlimited, Pheasants For-Ever and the Farm Bureau. He was also a member of the NRA and ILA. Earl was also a Hunter Education Instructor for the state of Ohio retiring in 2009, and a Certified Instructor for Concealed Carry. His wife the former Dorothy M. Wood, whom he married June 8, 1940, passed away August 9, 2005. Earl leaves one son William E. Bartel of Austintown, a daughter-in-law Carla Bartel of McDonald, five grandchildren Jeremy Bartel, Josh (Shauna) Bartel, Veronica Carkido, Aimee (David) Lynch, and Timothy Bartel, four great grandchildren Taylor and Alana Carkido, Finley Paige Bartel, Cole and Alyssa Lynch. He also leaves a nephew David (Kitty) Hupp of Toledo and a niece Fern
(Richard) Ceilec of Proctorville, OH, and Marilyn (Ray) Tresko of Danville, CA. Besides his parents and wife, Earl is preceded in death by one son, Richard G. Bartel, a daughter-in-law, Ann Bartel, and two sisters, Mildred Hupp, and Laverne Dunmire.
