Curt H. Tonkin
Age 62, of Sutton, WV passed away suddenly and unexpectedly Thursday, June 21, 2018 at his home.
He was born January 15, 1956 in Sutton, WV the son of Virginia Beam Tonkin and the late Hayvard Mendyll Tonkin.
Curt joined the Marine Corps in 1973 and served 8 years. He then joined the WV Army National Guard for 20 years and served as 1st Sgt. 1092ndB Weston, WV. He proudly served his country during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He also was a retired Conservation Officer with WV Natural Resources Police. He was very proud to have served his country as well as his state. He also served his community as Pastor of Erbacon Community Church and was a member of the Gassaway Masonic Lodge.
He was an amazing father who loved his family immensely. He cherished his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them as often as he could.
Curt is survived by his wife of 42 years, Edna G. Tonkin; his daughters, Felisha Watson of Sutton and Roberta (Jason) Angle of Ft. Hauchuca, AZ. He’s also survived by his mother, Virginia Rose Svette of Tennessee; grandchildren, Tatym, Aidan and Harrison C. Watson, Kassie, Josh, Jackson and Journey Angle; brothers and sisters, Darlene (Gene) Thompson, Kenny (Coot) Tonkin, Octavia (Bill) Cogar, Laverne (Andrea) Tonkin, Regina (Mike) Davis, Carol (Bill) Ellis, Glenn (Judy) Tonkin, Dwayne (Kim) Svette, Doug Svette, Bill Svette.
Curt will forever be in our hearts and be deeply missed by so many.
