Born in Webster Springs, W.Va., he was the widower of Mary Elizabeth Bancroft and a member of Living Waters Church of God, Chesapeake. Survivors include two daughters, Lorraine Sellers of Portsmouth and Mary L. Sellers of Chesapeake; three sons, George W. Bancroft Jr. of Chesapeake, Dick Q. Adams Bancroft of Portsmouth, and Charles N. Bancroft of Chesapeake; a sister, Rosa Lee Hobbs of Chesapeake; a brother, Bradon Bancroft of Chesapeake; and 11 grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Rosewood Memorial Park by the Rev. Jack Sawyer.
