- Marjorie “Margie” Dellinger Scheiderer, age 86, of Marysville, died Sunday, August 8, 2021 at Memorial Hospital. A homemaker, she worked as a receptionist, clerk, legal secretary, paralegal and administrative assistant.
She was a graduate of Chuckery-Darby High School and served as the editor of the school newspaper and secretary and treasurer of Y-Teens. She graduated from Capital Law School as a paralegal. A longtime member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, she taught Sunday School for 38 years and was a member of St. John’s Ladies Aid Society and Lutheran Women’s Mission League where she served in all elected offices and committees. She was baptized, confirmed and married at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chuckery, where she also attended St. Paul Lutheran School. She organized the HOP (Helping Other People) Line for St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and was a member of the Golden Eagles Seniors. A ten-year member of 4-H, she was advisor for twelve years and was the mother of 4-H members for 22 years. Margie served as a voting precinct presiding judge for the Union County Board of Elections, was a member of the Union County Republican Central Committee and was a former member of the Marysville Business and Professional Association. She served on the Advisory Board for the Union County Council on Aging and the Advisory Board for Union County Senior Services.
She was a longtime member of the Windsor and Community Seniors where she served as secretary and president of the Board of Trustees. Margie served two terms on the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council and served on the Memorial Hospital Meals on Wheels Advisory Board. With a deep love of music, she was a member of the Windsor Singers, the Union County Bicentennial Choir, the Union County Singsations Choir and St. John’s church choir.
She and her late husband, Edgar, were inducted into the Central Ohio Senior Hall of Fame in 2009 and they also received the Medical Mutual of Ohio Senior Advisory Council’s 2009 Outstanding Senior Volunteer Honorable Mention Award for exemplary community volunteer service. She also won the Union County Chamber of Commerce Salute to Leaders 2010 Senior Leadership Award.
Margie enjoyed collecting angels. She loved traveling with her husband, especially to the Holy Land, Germany and surrounding countries, Hawaii and many other sites throughout the United States. She loved attending her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s activities as her greatest passion was the time she spent with her loving family.
She was born May 8, 1935 in Madison County, Plain City, Ohio to the late Walter M. and Nora Caroline Rausch Dellinger. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death on June 17, 2014 by her husband of 60 years, Edgar G. Scheiderer, whom she married April 18, 1954; an infant son, Mark Walter Scheiderer; two sisters, Doris Margaret Rausch and Ruth Ann Vollrath; two brothers, Walter Myron Dellinger and Gerald L. Dellinger; sisters-and brothers-in-law, Harold C. Rausch, Mary Dellinger, Frieda and Herman Nicol, Harry and Frances Scheiderer, Roy and Burdetta Scheiderer, Norma and Martin Burns, Lorna Scheiderer, Ludlow Nicol and Helen and Harry Evans.
She is survived by a daughter, Karen Rose (Steve) Hall of Plain City; three sons, Carl Walter (Dawn) Scheiderer of Hilliard, Larry Edgar (Kelly) Scheiderer of Hilliard and Edgar Roy (Elizabeth) Scheiderer of Delaware; eight grandchildren, Jason (Krista) Hall, Michael (Danielle) Hall, Megan (Kirby) Ayers, Kara (Jason) Pollo, Brooke (Ryan) Rausch, Karolyn (Troy) Layman, Laura Scheiderer and Jordan Scheiderer; twelve great-grandchildren, Riley, Olivia and Logan Hall, Hudson and Parker Hall, Henley, Mila and Kyler Ayers, Peyton and Ava Pollo, Emma Scheiderer and Ryder Layman; a brother-in-law, Phillip Vollrath; a sister-in-law, Gertrude Nicol; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, August 13, 2021 at Underwood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 14, 2021 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
