James "Jim" Michael Shaver of Gassaway passed away May 2, 2012, at CAMC Hospital General Division, in the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit, following a short illness.
James was born in Fredrickstown, Mo., on September 20, 1933, to the late Oscar Forest "Buck" Shaver and Ruby Rebecca Boyce Shaver Sebert.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by an infant sister and a grandson.
He was a Methodist by faith. He loved fishing, camping, hunting, traveling and spending time with his family. James attended Burnsville School, and graduated from Sutton High School with the class of 1951.
He worked many different jobs when he was younger. He was a former employee of Mon Power Company. He owned and operated a used car business for 23 years, Shaver Motor Sales in Gassaway, with his wife, Virginia, from October 1966 until his retirement in June 1989.
Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, May 6, at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with the Rev. Mark Stump officiating. Burial will be in Sugar Creek Cemetery, Gassaway.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
