- LOIS K. HICKS VESTAL
COLUMBIANA - Lois K. Hicks Vestal, 85, passed away Wednesday morning, Jan. 18, at Parkside Health Care Center in Columbiana.
Lois was born on Aug. 2, 1931, in Lynchburg, Va., a daughter of Luther and Virginia (Tyree) Hicks.
A 1948 Columbiana High School graduate, she worked as a receptionist at Shepherd of the Valley and CopeCo in Poland. She also worked in the purchasing department of NRM in Columbiana and at Ort Furniture in Salem as a sewer. She enjoyed baking, sewing, doing crafts, and playing the organ.
Lois belonged to the First United Methodist Church in Leetonia, where she was a MYF leader.
She is survived by two daughters, Vicki Matlak and her husband, Raymond, of Westerville and Carla Packman of Leetonia; her brother, Robert (Judy) Hicks of Copley; three grandchildren, Christopher (Erin) Matlak, Tracey Matlak, and Melissa (Tom) Farley; and six great-grandchildren, Darrell, Drew, Tommy, Ally, Brandon, and Ryan.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ross, whom she married Nov. 25, 1950, and who passed away Nov. 7, 2010; brother Earl “Bud” Hicks; and sister Shirley Colon.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 21, at 2 p.m. at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home, 154 S. Elm St. in Columbiana, with Pastor Dave Perkins officiating.
The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m., two hours before the services at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made in Lois’s memory to Columbiana EMS, 28 W. Friend St., Columbiana, OH 44408.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude towards the staff at Parkside Health Care Center and All Caring Hospice for the wonderful and compassionate care shown to Lois.
