- Wende Jean Bodey, 50, of Springfield, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2016 following a short illness.
Wende was born on November 22, 1966 in Springfield, Ohio. She dabbled in many interests throughout her childhood, including softball, track and field, and Girl Scouts. She graduated with a court reporting certificate from Clark County JVS in 1984 and married her high school sweetheart, Greg, in 1986. They raised two children and enjoyed attending their school and sporting events as well as traveling together as a family.
Wende’s creativity and independent spirit led her to her calling as an entrepreneur. She opened and operated a successful medical billing service for fifteen years, then later opened a small retail store and made and sold gourmet baked goods and chocolates. Wende loved to cook and bake, do crafts, and was an avid animal lover. A doting grandmother and aunt, she enjoyed spending time with family most of all.
Wende is survived by her husband, Greg, daughter Michelle (Brian) Rieman, son Doug Bodey (Christine Beaser), granddaughter Nora Rieman, parents Sandra and Jack Grody, sisters Joni (Lynn) Coressel and Kristy (Roger) Holmes, and twelve nieces and nephews, as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and friends. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, December 22 from 3:00-4:30 at Jackson Lytle & Lewis Life Celebration Center at 2425 North Limestone Street in Springfield. Memorial contributions may be made in Wende’s name to the Vasculitis Foundation or to The Humane Society Serving Clark County.
