  Notes	Richard H. "Dick" Maxwell, 72, of Oswego died at 7 a.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at his home. He had been in failing health. He was born Feb. 10, 1939, in Faulkner to John and Carol (Imel) Chapman. At age 3, his father died and his mother married Ralph Maxwell, who adopted Richard. As a young boy, he grew up in the Faulkner area, where he attended schools and graduated from Columbus High School. He married Dorothy Conard on July 6, 1957, in Baxter Springs. Through the years he farmed and later worked for Wiese in Joplin before retiring. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Maxwell of the home in Oswego; a son, Duane Maxwell of rural Faulkner; two daughters, Patricia McSherry of rural Columbus and Sue Maxwell of the home in Oswego; his mother, Carol Maxwell of Joplin; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Jim Maxwell of Hallowell; and four sisters, Joyce Heflin, Connie Casey, both of Joplin, Carol Sue Sloane of Baxter Springs and Bonnie Feist of Faulkner. He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Maxwell. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Fairview Cemetery east of Chetopa. A Celebration of Life service will immediately follow at First Christian Church in Chetopa. Friends may call after 9 a.m. today at Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa. Memorials are suggested to Hospice Care of Kansas, the First Christian Church of Chetopa or Safe Haven Outreach Mission Inc. of Parsons. These may be left at or mailed to the funeral home, P.O.
