She was born on April 30, 1928 in Mill Creek, WV to the late Harley and Flow McElwee Evans. Emmogene was a homemaker, dedicated wife and mother. She was a member of the Powells Mountain Baptist Church and a member of the Birch River Volunteer Ambulance Service. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Virgil E. Hoover, daughters, Janette Pumphrey, Jillette Wamsley, granddaughter, Myra Wamsley, grandson, Bradley Hoover, sisters, Mae Norman, Pauletta Evans, brothers, James Evans, Lawrence Evans. Emmogene is survived by her sons, Ronald Hoover and wife Shelba and Howard Hoover and wife Karen all of Birch River, Donald Hoover and wife Bertha of Beckley Springs, WV, daughters, Genivee Rose and husband Roger of Birch River, Wanda Rose and husband James of Astatula, FL, sisters, Edith Rose, Zela Knicley, Charlotte Campbell, Lorrine Brown, JoAnn Cutlip, Janet King, Debra Sigman, Elizabeth Hamrick, brothers, Kermit Evans, Okey J. Evans, 21 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 1 step-great-great-grandchild. Funeral services were held 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Powells Mountain Baptist Church with the Rev. Linn Schiefer officiating. Burial followed at Hoover Cemetery, Birch River. Friends called two hours prior to service at the church.
