    • Burnette M. Hegenderfer Nicol, 84, of Marysville died Tuesday, Jan. 6,
      2004, at Heartland of Marysville.
      She was a homemaker and retired from the Scotts Co. in 1982 as an office
      and accounting clerk. She was a member of First English Lutheran Church
      where she participated in the morning Bible study and was a member of
      Women of the ELCA. A former longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church,
      she was involved in various women's activities and helped with food
      preparation for the church school. From 1938 to 1947 she worked at
      Nestle's as a payroll clerk. She was known for her good cooking,
      especially Christmas cookies, rhubarb pie, potato salad and deviled
      eggs. She enjoyed reading and traveling.
      She was born July 26, 1919, in Darby Township to the late Eric and Eva
      Ruhl Hegenderfer. She was baptized Aug. 10, 1919, at St. John's Lutheran
      Church by the Rev. Kuechle and was confirmed Palm Sunday, April 9, 1933,
      at Trinity Lutheran Church by the Rev. E.J. Goedeking.
      She was predeceased by an infant son, Herbert; sisters, Florence Geer,
      Tessa Parr, Elsie Van Hoose and Irene Hegenderfer; and brothers, Floyd
      and Gilbert Hegenderfer. She was predeceased in 1959 by her husband,
      Herbert J. Nicol and in 1945 by her husband, Richard Elsbree who was
      killed in action in Okinawa.
      She is survived by a daughter, Dorothy L. Nicol of Marysville; two sons,
      Michael (Diane) Nicol of Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Daniel (Diane) Nicol of
      Louisville, Ohio; granddaughters, Monica, Mandi, Danielle and Carly
      Nicol; a brother-in-law, Kermit Nicol of Marysville; and numerous
      nieces, nephews and other relatives.
      Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at First English
      Lutheran Church. The Rev. Carl A. Roepcke will officiate and burial will
      be at Oakdale Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
      Thursday at the Underwood Funeral Home.
      Memorial contributions may be made to the church building fund.
