- NUTTER FORT, W.Va. — Thomas Larry "Tom" Knapp, 71, of Shinnston, passed away on Monday, June 7, 2021, in the United Hospital Center.
He was born in Clarksburg on March 20, 1950, a son of the late Virgil B. and Iona Clifton Knapp.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ramona Frum Knapp. Also surviving are two daughters, Alexis Knapp and Amber Starkey and her husband, Levi; three grandchildren, Lundyn Knapp, Layken Starkey and River Starkey; one sister, Patti Swiger; five nephews, Robert Knapp, Greg Knapp, Brandon Swiger, Josh Swiger and Kyle Swaim and one great nephew, Anthony Knapp.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Ronald, Larry and Fred Knapp and one sister, Betty Patterson.
Mr. Knapp was a graduate of Victory High School and retired from Union Carbide Corporation in 2010. Tom loved hunting and fishing and enjoyed camping at Dolly Sods and Canaan Valley. He was a dedicated husband and father and cherished his time with his grandchildren. Tom was a fighter who received a double lung transplant in July 2017, which allowed him four more years of life with his family and he was able to meet and get to know his youngest granddaughter.
Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, on Friday, June 11, 2021, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.. Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. with Minister Kriss Cecil-Crihfield officiating. In keeping with his wishes, Tom will be cremated following the service.
